Maths Curriculum

We use a CPA approach to the teaching of maths, supported in the Early Years through a huge range of  resources such as Numicon and throughout school with a wide range of equipment to reinforce the concrete, pictoral and abstract. In KS1 and KS2, we deliver the maths curriculum through the White Rose Maths programme which develops all maths skills in a methodical way. The skills are taught first, then the fluency element and finally the reasoning and problem-solving aspect. Reasoning and problem-solving is a focus of every lesson and a great emphasis is placed upon mathematical language and understanding. The children’s learning environment are immersed in it. Each classroom has a Working Wall for maths which helps support learning daily, building on skills and concepts.
