Pupil Voice

Brockholes Wood School places great importance on developing critical and creative thinkers. We believe that children have enormous potential to make decisions, express themselves and have a voice!

The School Council continue to shape school improvement and help support the Values Champions from each class, whose role it is to lead the school in its values curriculum. The impact of their work can be seen in the ways children sort out difficulties, using the values to resolve differences. Their work is celebrated in weekly Praise Assembly.

The School Council meets once a half term, in Mrs Blackburn’s room. The Council are very active in school and spend time suggesting and overseeing school improvements along with the Senior Leadership Team. If you have any issues you would like the School Council to help you with please see a member of the Council.

Our pupils’ views and expectations are central to our continued school improvement. So each class has contributed their ideas about what they expect school to provide them with and, as part of a shared sense of responsibility, what school expects children to take responsibility for. The whole school community will endeavour to make the School Expectations an essential part of our Values-based school.

Our Year 5/6 Buddies are responsible for looking after groups of KS1 and FS children during lunchtime. They eat their dinner in the hall with them, then set up games for them to play and supervise them alongside the welfare staff. They are trained at the beginning of the year to carry out their duties successfully.

We have Class Ambassadors who are an advocate for their own class and school. They will greet anyone who is looking around and give you information about what they are currently learning within class.
